Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University by twenty-two illustrious women.

​

Our founders used their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need.

​

The purpose of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is to provide services and programs to encourage and promote public welfare.

​

The programs of the sorority are based upon the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, including:

Economic Development

Educational Development

International Awareness and Involvement

Physical and Mental Health

Political Awareness and Involvement

​

Alpha Omicron Chapter was chartered at the University of Washington on April 17, 1933 by eight visionary black women, one of which was an original founder of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Soror Bertha Pitts Campbell.

​

Membership to Alpha Omicron is open to women in an accredited college or university within the city limits of Seattle, including the University of Washington, Seattle University, and Seattle Pacific University.
